In November of 1976, the state of New Jersey voted to legalize casino gambling in Atlantic City.

This quiet little seashore town would now join Las Vegas as the only two U.S. cities to have 

legalized casino gambling.

​

On May 26, 1978 Resorts International Hotel & Casino became the first to open its doors.

 

During this time, a young man had an idea.....bring busloads of gamblers to Atlantic City!

 

First, he chose a date....then chartered a bus, purchased 50 Victor Borge Show tickets, 

and got a deal on some boxes of salt water taffy  ( the first casino package ) .

 

With a limited budget, a modest ad was placed in a local newspaper. 

Within 2 days, that first casino bus trip was sold out!

Two years later in 1980, that same young man began buying his own buses!

 

So, on July 8, 1978 a small, family-owned company then named COASTAL TRANSPORT,

​operated the first ever, bus trip to an Atlantic City casino.....yes, it's a true story!

 

In the years to come, other parts of the country would vote to legalize casino gambling. 

Eventually, hundreds and even thousands of buses would arrive

at casinos all across the United States.

On July 8th, 2025 ... we will celebrate the 47th ANNIVERSARY  of our first bus tour ever!
